Friday’s Breakfast for Thought
The moment you see the orange of my brand, d’you say to yourself, “Aha, the storyteller has arrived”? 😊
I’d smile if that was your thought.
Today, no stories. No reminder about how much you NEED an editor, just a breakfast for thought.
It’s something I shared in Justin’s interview, yesterday. (I’m not supposed to reveal nada till it’s published next year, so let’s have our fingers crossed that he won’t see this post.)
Of all 10 questions I was asked, no. 8 strikes me the most.
JUSTIN COBB: I’m curious… A younger Salvin comes up to you for advice. What do you tell him?
ME: Hmm… I’ve never thought about it, but if I did have that opportunity, I’d definitely tell him a plethora of stuff! Say, however, that there was a time constraint, I would tell my younger self to embrace failure, because it’s through failure that we learn and grow.
I’d also say to trust my instincts more and not be afraid to take risks.
Sometimes, the path less travelled can lead to the greatest rewards.
I’d say when people walk out of your life, don’t groan and beat your chest in grief. The moments you shared with each person were worth it, and leaving was also right. Better now than later, so chin up and smile.
I’ve never been more eloquent in my life, and I needed an interview to help me realise that. Wish I could share everything with you, but there are procedures (also me just breaking one 😹).
Over to you, glorious one, if a younger self comes up to you for advice, what do you tell them?
Don’t rush your comment. Think. Think deep. Then comment. Next, write down your comment in a journal or somewhere safe.
Thank God it’s Friday, I guess. 😊
